Longhorn

This painting was inspired by photos I came across from almost 2 decades ago. I flew out to my grandmother's funeral in Cody Wyoming. Afterward my father and I traveled around talking about life and soaking up the wild and beautiful big sky country. All these years later, coming across the photos of our one day dad and daugher road trip, there was a crazy amount of longhorn cattle photos. I suppose in our grief we focused on what was alive and benign.

Turquoise and carnelian always reminds me of the grandmother that was earthly and good.
